That's how the 1998 season left me feeling. Where oh where have my Steelers gone?
The 1999 season opens in Cleveland (oh yeah, welcome back Browns) Sunday Sept. 12 @ 8:20pmET. There will be lots of new faces. Hopefully everyone will be playing the same game (offense and defense).
I await the 1999 season with baited breath. Hopefully Coach Cowher can straighten out this mess.
Some fun football facts:
- The Steelers started out named The Pirates (1933-1940).
- The Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles once merged and were known as the Steagles (1943)
- The Steelers and the Cardinals were once merged to be known as the Cards-Pitts a.k.a. "The Carpets" (1944)
- The Steelers helmet was gold until the 1960s when they changed it to black.
- The Rams were the first team to put a logo on their helmet.
- The reason only one side of the Steelers' helmets have a logo is due to the fact they were trying to decide which looked better, with or without, before a game. The look stuck.
- The symbol on the Steelers helmet was borrowed from the nat'l Steele association. A few years ago it was okayed for the word "Steelers" to be added.
Some Unforgetable Steelers
- Chuck Noll
- Jack Lambert
- The Steele Curtain (the Denfensive Line back in the 70s)

- "Mean" Joe Green
- Franco Harris
- Greg Lloyd
